Collaborations
The Mercian Collaboration enjoys a healthy ongoing liaison with a number of key bodies within the UK academic library landscape.
SCONUL
In its capacity as our parent organisation, the Collaboration enjoys extensive links with and operational support from SCONUL, as delineated through our Memorandum of Understanding. The SCONUL Director and Executive also periodically liaise directly with our Steering Group on matters of mutual interest or national concern. To further and strengthen these links a number of our Board frequently serve on SCONUL's Executive Board.
Other Regional Academic & Research Library Collaborations
The Mercian Collaboration also enjoys strong links and exchanges of experience with other regional library collaborations with compatible operational agendas. These informal linkages are largely facilitated through the respective Officers/Managers and Steering/Operational Groups’ members. The collaborations we interact with principally include:
- Academic Libraries North (ALN). Covers the North of England (formed by the merged NoWAL &The Northern Collaboration groups)
- Scottish Confederation of University & Research Libraries (SCURL). Covers Scotland.
- M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries. Covers SE England and London.
- Wales Higher EducationLibraries Forum (WHELF). Covers Wales.
- White Rose Libraries. Covers Leeds, Sheffield & York only.
External Collaboration
While beyond enhanced communications and exchange between member organisations, there are currently there no active formal collaborations or projects. Nevertheless, the Collaboration welcomes outline approaches to explore potential future relationships.
