Cataloguing with Confidence (DMU October 2024)
Cataloguing with Confidence, a workshop presented by Victoria Parkinson (KCL) and Tom Meehan (UCL)
Hosted by Mercian Collaboration at De Montfort University, Leicester, on Tuesday 29th October (10:00-16.30)
This workshop is aimed at those with a basic knowledge or some prior experience of cataloguing, who want to develop their knowledge of RDA, AACR2, MARC fields and practical cataloguing in general. It is ideal for paraprofessionals and those new the profession or those with some oversight of cataloguing but who are not trained cataloguers. This session will provide attendees with the necessary resources and rules to catalogue books confidently in their workplace.
Attendees will learn about the theory underpinning current cataloguing standards (AACR2, MARC21, RDA) and gain practical knowledge in cataloguing. The focus will be on developing your cataloguing skills with practical, hands-on sessions using hard copy print books.
