People networking on screen

Come and welcome in the new year with our first virtual networking session of 2021.

Built around an open exchange of thoughts, in an informal and relaxed setting. These sessions are designed to appeal to staff working at all levels and sections of the academic libraries, with topics for discussion largely driven by attendees' interests and feedback following previous events.

This time, the overall focus will be on accessibility, with a mind to sharing related experiences, successes and challenges in supporting students and staff in a remote working/lockdown environment.

We'll be considering questions including:

  • How has supporting and creating an accessible library environment changed in the past year?
  • What are the most important/useful staff or skills to navigate this successfully?
  • Have there been any (new or established) services, platforms or approaches which have been particularly successful?
  • And…what hasn’t worked as well as might have been expected?

As always, there will be the opportunity for participants to shape the direction and topics of discussion on the day.

The event will be hosted on the Zoom platform, which means you will need a device (PC, tablet, smart phone) with a microphone, and ideally a web camera enabled to participate.

A link to the login information will be sent to you on Wed 20th Jan ahead of the event. However, if you are unable to see or access the link, please contact Gareth J Johnson (mercianlibrariescollaboration@gmail.com) to receive the information directly.

Audience: All library staff, but especially those with an interest in supporting accessibility.

To ensure everyone has the opportunity to speak, places on this event will be limited. You can find advice on using and installing Zoom on the Collaboration's website.
