A row of people

This year’s conference, Redefining Engagement, will be hosted online in early September 2022. An open call for speakers was recently launched and will close in June (Mon 13th). As in previous years the conference team are especially keen to attract session proposals from those with limited or no prior experience of speaking at events to share their experiences.

Hence, for the first time we are providing two sessions each of which will explore in more detail the practical steps which go into creating a session proposal. Alongside this they will seek to offer advice and tips on how to be a better or more effective first-time speaker.

With a focus primarily on the Mercian Collaboration conference, during these short informal, relaxed and informative sessions Conference Group members will unpack the event theme alongside suggesting ways to relate it back to your own library experiences. The briefing sessions will also examine the key elements to include in drafting an attractive, effective and exciting conference session proposal, and provide insights into the reviewing process. Plus, the presenters will offer suggestions on how to collaborate with local and regional colleagues to offer a more diverse proposal.

Throughout, attendees will also be encouraged to ask questions, share ideas or raise any concerns they might have in becoming a speaker at the Collaboration’s Conference.
