Clockwork and cogs

An event hosted on behalf of the Mercian Staff Development (MSDG) Group.

Whether you are implementing one system or multiple, join colleagues from the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University and Harper Adams for a conversation about their experiences of implementing Library Management Systems. Colleagues will explore their journeys through implementation to 'Go Live', including the challenges and opportunities that new systems bring, how the projects were managed and delivered, how library staff were engaged as part of the change process, the communications methods employed to inform library users, and how, after 'Go Live' , Libraries continue to monitor and adapt systems to meet ever changing needs.

The session will include a 5-minute presentation from each institution outlining their journey, and a facilitated discussion of their experiences. Attendees will have opportunity to raise questions and make comments.

Speakers will include:

  • Bertha Low (Head of Library Systems and Resource Administration, BCU)
  • Laura Pilsel (University Librarian and Head of Registration, Assessment Records and Awards, Harper Adams)
  • Curwen Thomas (Deputy Head Library Service, Harper Adams University)
