Staff Development Group

This area highlights the events and work organised by the Mercian Staff Development Group (MSDG), which formed in 2014 from the amalgamation of EMALINK and WESLINK groups.  As a Mercian Collaboration special interest group the SDG has a remit to organise development and training events for library staff within member institutions, aiming aims to:

  • Provide opportunities for all levels of staff to share knowledge, exchange ideas, experiences and good practice.
  • Host a number of staff development events through out the year, such as learning exchanges, workshops and library tours.
  • Develop both strategic and operational approaches to the delivery of staff development.
  • Advise the Library Directors of the Mercian Collaboration on staff development issues.

The SDG has representatives from each of the Mercian Collaboration libraries, and is currently Chaired by Matt Cunningham to whom enquiries should be directed. On behalf of the SDG representatives the MSDG Chair reports and is responsible to the Mercian Directors, via the Mercian Collaboration's Steering Group and Group Sponsor (Diane Jobs).
