After the success of last year’s Mercian Collaboration Conference, planning is already well underway for this year’s event.

Jennifer Brotherton talks about the skills she developed through being an active participant in organising the Mercian Conference 2017.

During the academic year 2016-17 I was involved in organising and hosting the first conference for the relatively young Mercian Collaboration. What follows is a reflective summary of my contribution to the planning and delivery of the conference, which was hosted at The Venue, De Montfort University on 12th September 2017.

When the call went out for people to join the Mercian Collaboration Conference Group I felt a mixture of uncertainty and excitement at the thought of trying something new. I’d never helped organise a conference before which felt like a daunting and potentially difficult task. In the end though, the challenge of trying something new drew me in and I signed up.
