Platform Requirements (2021)

The 2021 Mercian Collaboration Conference will be hosted online using MS Teams. This page details the system requirements you may need to know to participate fully as a delegate or speaker.

  • Speaker
    • (ideally) Teams app on a computer with microphone & camera.
    • (optional) The web-browser version of Teams can be used, but will not offer the same level of performance.
    • (optional) We will run a drop in practice session ahead of the conference for speakers to participate in, if wished.
  • Delegate
    • (ideally) Teams app on a computer with speakers/headphone.
    • (optional) Camera and microphone. We plan to conduct questions mostly using the text chat function for delegates. As above, the web-browser version of Teams can be used, but will offer a suboptimal conference experience.
  • Breakout/Networking
    • To participate in the networking sessions between panels, you will need access to a microphone and camera on your computer.

The Teams app allows for live captioning of sessions, for those who require or prefer it. This may be turned on or off at any point using the options menu (...) at the top right of the app screen. Note, we will endevour to make as many of the presentations and discussions as possible available after the event.

For general guidance relating to online etiquette for online meetings and events from the Collaboration see our earlier guidance.
